A weight loss diet plan including breakfast tea could help you to lose weight, researchers have claimed.
The everyday drink can cause fast weight loss thanks to the molecular make up of this kind of tea.
The research from the University of California found that drinking breakfast tea without milk can raise the metabolism, leading to weight loss.
This is because the tea has bigger molecules. These cannot be absorbed well by the intestine.
This will encourage bacteria that boosts weight loss to grow in the stomach, the scientists claim.
Conversely, it also reduces bacteria that is related to obesity. Green tea also has a similar effect, the study found.
However, there is one caveat to this weight loss trick. The drink must be taken without milk.
Scientists made the findings by analysing the diets and weight loss in mice.
Mice who were given tea extract lost weight just as much as those mice put on a low-fat diet.
They also had less bacteria related to being overweight in their guts.
It has been revealed recently that traditional tea is dying out, with millennial opting for green or fruit teas. Perhaps the weight loss benefits will help revive the traditional British drink.
Green tea is another good option for weight loss, and according to Swedish research, it helps keep dieters fuller for longer.
This is apparently due to catechins in green tea, which increase calorie burn by four per cent.
