The presenter could not hold back her tears after watching Luke, who is taking part on the show’s Rickshaw Challenge to raise money for Children In Need, give an emotional speech.
The youngster, who has cerebral palsy, is one of many riding to the Clyde to help those in need and went to Aladdin in the West End to encourage the audience to raise money.
He told viewers at home: “It’s tough that you have to ask for help to get by,” as he revealed he is forced to use a wheelchair and crutches as he struggles to walk.
Luke went on to explain that after surgery when he was younger, he had to learn to re-walk and he wants to help the centre which has assisted with his physiotherapy.
Returning to the studio after his tear-jerking speech, Alex commented: “Oh, I can’t believe they’ve only got one day left.”
“Isn’t it hard watching like Like do his speech?” she stammered.
As she wiped away her tears, she turned to tonight’s guest Michael McIntyre and apologised for getting emotional.
“I’m rubbish,” she said. “Everytime you come on Michael, I’m like this.”
Co-host Amol Rajan was quick to comfort Alex and concluded: “Luke, you are such an inspiration and good luck tomorrow guys.”
The One Show airs weekdays on BBC One at 7pm.
