The mother – who didn’t know she was pregnant – has been struggling since she unexpectedly gave birth to her son in September.
And in last night’s double bill, Moira’s (played by Natalie J.Robb) downward spiral continued as she interrupted her son Adam (Adam Thomas) and Victoria’s (Isabel Hodgins) adoption meeting to tell them they should look after Isaac instead.
Moira’s shocking actions finally made her family realise just how much she hasn’t been coping since the birth and urged the farmer to admit what is troubling her.
Opening up about her struggles, Moira admitted it stems from the guilt she feels over her daughter Holly who died from a heroin overdose last year.
“I can’t have him,” she confessed. “What if Isaac dies…”
Hysterically crying, she said: ”I sit up all night watching him and listening to him sleep, knowing at any minute he’s going to stop breathing like Holly did.
“I won’t be able to stop it, I should have saved her. I can’t go through that again, please don’t make me go through that again!”
Fans of the ITV soap found the scene extremely distressing as many were in tears listening to Moira’s confession.
One person wrote on Twitter: “This scene with Moira is heart-breaking.”
“I’m crying! Poor Moira… But I glad she’s FINALLY being open #Emmerdale,” said another fan.
A third viewer added: “Watching Moira is so heartbreaking and upsetting #Emmerdale.”
