The popular BBC sitcom was a hit with viewers who fell for John (played by Peter) and Kayleigh’s (Sian Gibson) romantic ways.
After season two ended on a huge bombshell with the pair potentially never about to see each other ever again.
However, it seems that viewers will get to see what happened after all, as the 44-year-old comedian announced that Car Share will be back for a third and final series.
Peter told host Tess Daly: “It’s been a very hard secret to keep. I’m glad [it’s out] because we were getting constant abuse about it.
“People have been very angry that the series ended in that way, but there is a season finale explaining what happened the next day after the big argument.”
He also added that the pair have filmed a one-off special where they drove around for an hour with no script.
This comes as Peter announced an 11 date arena tour yesterday and seemed to break the internet as fans rushed to share their excitement.
Elsewhere on Children In Need, Doctor Who released a first-look teaser clip for the highly-anticipated Christmas special.
Peter Capaldi’s Time Lord met David Bradley’s as they accidentally spoiled the result of the First World War for one soldier.
Peter Kay’s Car Share will return in 2018.
