First Dates: X Factor winner speaks out after being ‘CUT’ from Channel 4 celebrity special | Celebrity News | Showbiz & TV

However, viewers could be forgiven for missing fellow star Matt Terry, who also signed up to appear on the Channel 4 favourite.

Many at home took to Twitter to ask if the X Factor winner’s blind date had been “cut” from the programme after he was barely seen on screen.

Speaking exclusively to Express.co.uk at the Oxford Street Christmas lights switch on, the 24-year-old opened up about his appearance after he was only seen talking briefly to Sinitta, 54, taking a picture with a fellow diner before offering to pay for his female companion.

Asked about the experience, Matt commented: “It was for charity… put it that way. It was alright, it was an experience.”

“It was really good but it was just really long – three hours. We didn’t really have a spark.”

Addressing why so little of his meeting was broadcast, the singer continued: “I’m not sure. I don’t really know, I just think it was a decision between my management and ITV. Maybe it wasn’t interesting enough, who knows?”[sic]

On whether he’d do it again, Matt added: “No, absolutely not. I don’t think I’m good at that – dating people I don’t know, be friends first… I can’t do blind dates.”

Meanwhile, a Channel 4 spokesperson told Express.co.uk: “It’s great to have celebrities involved in our charity special.

“Matt Terry was a good sport for this Stand Up To Cancer special and enjoyed his time being a special guest in our First Dates restaurant.”

Among the confused tweets on the night, one had read: “Did I sleep through Matt Terry’s date or was it so boring they cut it? #FirstDates.”

Two others agreed: “Where the hell did Matt Terry go? #FirstDates,” and: “So was Matt Terry just an extra then… #FirstDates.”

First Dates continues Monday at 10pm on Channel 4.
