The professional dancer has been on the show since it began 15 years ago and in an emotional montage aired on spin off It Takes Two, he reflected on his experience.
The touching video saw Brendan, 41, recall some of his favourite partners through the years and became nostalgic as he spoke about winning the first ever series with Natasha Kaplinsky.
Talking about the memory, he said: “Making the final with Natasha is a highlight of my career. The elation of winning was spectacular, what a way to start Strictly Come Dancing.”
The New Zealand dancer also discussed his time on the show partnered up with Kelly Brook and said he thought they would have reached the final.
Recalling their incredible American Smooth, Brendan admitted that series was the one that “got away” as Kelly dropped out due to the passing of her father.
Brendan went on to fondly remember some of his other partners including Lisa Snowdon, Victoria Pendleton and Sophie Ellis-Bextor.
At the end of the touching video, he said: “15 series of Srictly Come Dancing, it’s been euphoric, it’s been tough, it is my life and I’m very, very proud to have been a part of every single second of it.”
After the montage aried, many alarmed viewers rushed to Twitter to express their confusion as they believed it was a goodbye message.
One fan wrote: “That sounded like a goodbye to me. We want another 15 years @BrendanCole #ItTakesTwo #Strictly xx.”
“I hope that wasn’t a goodbye @BrendanCole on @bbcstrictly #ItTakesTwo, said an emotional viewer.
A third added: “Oh my gosh how fabulous to reminisce, that was a beautiful VT it sounded like goodbye though #Brendan I hope it’s not #Strictly.”
