ITV has not yet announced if there will be another season of Bancroft.
The show was aired over four consecutive nights this week and proved to be a hit with viewers.
However, the loose ends and unresolved ending left many viewers frustrated.
At the same time, the show has left the door open for a second run.
Bancroft was originally due to be aired on ITV Encore, the broadcaster’s subscription channel.
However, the miniseries got bumped up to a prime time slot on ITV due to a last-minute scheduling change.
The show replaced the Hatton Garden Heist with Timothy Spall that was set to be broadcast on ITV.

Who will be in Bancroft season 2?
Sarah Parish is most likely to return as the title character of the detective drama even though she was revealed to be the killer.
Game of Thrones star Faye Marsay could also be making a comeback even though she was shot by Bancroft and left seriously wounded.
It also seems likely that Adrian Edmonson will reprise his role as Bancroft’s rival Cliff Walker.
What happened in Bancroft season 1?
The dark four-part ITV thriller saw Detective Superintendent Elizabeth Bancroft joining forces with colleague DS Katherine Stevens after the latter began investigating a cold murder case.
They were looking into the death of Laura Fraser, who was killed in 1990 in a brutal stabbing.
They initially struggled to find any evidence but eventually the truth came spilling out with a huge twist about the killer.
Central character Bancroft was forced to reveal secrets from her own past as well.
Stevens was unable to bring her colleague Bancroft to justice, leaving viewers fuming at the last episode.
