Tonight’s instalment saw Laurel Thomas (played by Charlotte Bellamy) tell the cops she saw Adam Barton’s (Adam Thomas) car speeding out of the village shortly before Emma (Gillian Kearney) fell to her death.
After some reassurance from Bob Hope (Tony Audenshaw), she revealed all leaving the authorities determined it was Adam who pushed her, when in fact it was Ross Barton (Michael Parr) behind the wheel.
This week it finally came to light that Moira Barton (Natalie J. Robb) was the murderer after being goaded by a suicidal Emma, who brought up her late daughter Holly (Sophie Powles).
But, many took to Twitter to claim Adam was going to go down for it after he and Cain Dingle (Jeff Hordley) refused to let Moira tell the truth.
The final moments of the episode saw him wrongly tell his mum that the police had nothing on him after she said she’d never let him take the blame.
Two tweets read: “Adam is going to go down for his mum isn’t he? Or on the run? #Emmerdale,” and: “#Emmerdale Adam is going down.”
A third went on: “Well that’s it for Adam now. The police have decided he is guilty so it doesn’t matter what happens now, he is going down #Emmerdale.”
Others added: “I’m so sad it’s the beginning of the end for Adam #Emmerdale,” and: “No no NO don’t let an innocent man go down for it! Moira should do the right thing and come clean! @adamthomas21 @emmerdale #Emmerdale.”
Some made reference to the fact actor Adam has said he is departing the ITV soap after eight years, with many thinking this will be his exit storyline.
Emmerdale continues Monday at 7pm on ITV.
