Fans of the AMC series were dealt the cruelest blow when season eight came to its midseason finale, as Carl Grimes was unmasked as the latest hero to be killed off.
The fan favourite, played by Chandler Riggs, was last seen collapsed and hidden underground with his fellow Alexandrians, before unveiling a bite mark to father Rick Grimes (Andrew Lincoln) and Michonne (Dania Gurira).
Ahead of the bombshell, that absolutely no viewer saw coming, actor Riggs has urged admins of The Spoiling Dead Fans not to ruin the revelation; which they subsequently agreed to.
The Spoiling Dead Fans have since shared their promise with Riggs, which was made back in November.
“So I’ve come to realise that you all have probably figured out the big reveal at the end of 808,” Riggs pleaded. “If not, you will find out soon enough via one of your sources. I get that you guys have been doing this since we started, but I have a request.
“Out of respect for me, for Carl, and for one of the last few seasons of the show, I’m asking you not to spoil the ending of 808 once your sources inform you of what happens.”
The 18-year-old appears to have confirmed season eight will be “one of the last few” cycles remaining in The Walking Dead, despite assurances from bosses it will go on infinitely.
Carl’s death has angered fans more than any TWD controversy before it, with 60,000 avid followers of the show signing a petition to sack producer Scott M. Gimple
What’s more, audiences were left scratching their heads, believing Carl had been bitten off-screen.
However, Gimple has since revealed Carl was bitten before millions, believed to be in episode six.
“It happened in a moment that was on screen,” he teased. “We didn’t see the absolute bite, but we saw when it happened and we even saw Carl’s reaction to it after it happened in one of the episodes we’ve seen this season.”
The Walking Dead will return to AMC on February 25 and will air on FOX UK the following day.
