Ben Mitchell (played by Harry Reid) soaked in his final moments of Walford on last night’s episode of EastEnders.
Fleeing the country with the money he stole from Phil Mitchell (Steve McFadden), Ben secretly packed his bags and left Albert Square.
Unbeknownst to him, however, the recently returned Mel Owen (Tamzin Outhwaite) stalked his every movement, and tracked down where he was heading.
In tonight’s episode, Ben was discovered at Dover, catching a ferry to Calais, France.
However, he soon realised that Mel was hot on his heels.
After incorrectly believing he had given her the slip, Ben boarded the ferry, smiling at the prospect of a new life.
Disposing of his phone in the sea, Mel revealed that she was still following him, telling him that he needs to leave the bag and return to England.
“I don’t know what you think you know,” he threatened. “But it has nothing to do with me, and it certainly has nothing to do with you.”
As he grabbed the bag, Mel gave him one final warning: “I wouldn’t do that if I were you.
“If you make it through customs, it’s your funeral.”
Ignoring all of her threats and warnings, Ben pushed Mel aside and got off the ferry.
But at the customs exit, disaster struck as he was pulled aside to get his bag checked.
As the customs officer opened his bag, Ben began to look nervous, preparing for the worst.
Much to his shock, the customs officer, and the viewers, the plastic bag hidden inside his luggage was cut open to reveal a stack of newspapers.
On his exit, Ben pulled out a small stash of money he had hidden in his pocket, smiling, while Ciara Maguire (Denise McCormack) looming behind him.
After taking on the role of Ben in 2014, Harry’s character was expected to be killed off in his final episode.
However, viewers have been left confused as to where the stolen money has gone.
Mel now knows that Phil was involved in the heist, so will Ben be killed off screen as revenge?
EastEnders continues Monday at 8pm on BBC One
