However, it appears his reunion with his family doesn’t go too well as Betty’s (played by Lili Reinhart) mum Alice (Madchen Amick) can be seen breaking down.
She is pictured in tears after coming face-to-face with Chic (Hard Denton) for the first time as Betty tries to comfort her.
While things don’t appear to get off to the best of starts for the Cooper family, it seems Betty and Chic will bond.
Approximately 40 seconds into the trailer, the siblings can be seen running down a hotel hallway followed by a stumbling man.
Could this be part of the next mystery Betty has to solve?
Meanwhile, the new episode, entitled “The Blackboard Jungle”, will see Southside High closed down, which means the Serpents, including Jughead (Cole Spouse) are sent to Riverdale High.
And, unsurprisingly, that doesn’t go too well as the rivalry between the Southside and Northside intensifies.
But that’s not the only rivalry as Hiram Lodge (Mark Consuelos) looks set to try and take down Archie Andrews (KJ Apa), who he boldly claims is “not good enough” for his daughter Veronica (Camila Mendes).
In a number of tense scenes, the pair can be seen racing against each other before wrestling in the school’s gym.
The new trailer comes after the series’ boss hinted that Betty could be in danger when the show returns from its mid-season break.
Creator Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa took to Twitter to share an ominous snap of the cheerleader to whet the appetite of die-hard fans.
In the teaser shot, the blonde beauty can be seen looking worried as she stares up at the ceiling in her home.
Roberto captioned the snap: “If the Black Hood is dead, then who the hell is upstairs? HINT: It ain’t Chic. 15 days to a new ep of #Riverdale.”
Who could be waiting for Betty?
Riverdale season 2 continues January 18 on Netflix.
