The X Factor SNUB: Cheryl rules out return to Simon Cowell show as she takes on BBC rival? | TV & Radio | Showbiz & TV

Former Girls Aloud singer, Cheryl, has announced that she will be returning to UK television.

However, those who were hopeful it would be the X Factor on ITV shouldn’t get too excited just yet, as she will in fact start a new venture on the BBC.

The 24-year-old was spotted at the Hammersmith Apollo as she participated in The Greatest Dancer.

She is reportedly acting as a “dance captain” on the show after being spotted taking pictures on Tuesday evening with avid fans of the pop star.

Cheryl will be joining the star-studded line-up made up of Britain’s Got Talent’s Alesha Dixon, Jordan Banjo, Matthew Morrison and Strictly Come Dancing’s Oti Mabuse.

It is thought that Alesha and Jordan will present the show while Matthew and Oti will take on a judging role.

There’s still chance for Cheryl to resume her X Factor role, however, as The Greatest Dancer is thought to be owned by Simon Cowell’s TV company, Syco.

A source told The Sun: “Cheryl’s always been associated with ITV. She was made a star by Popstars: The Rivals.

“Moving to the BBC is a huge deal for her. It’s a trial run at this point, but everyone is hoping it’ll get the green light.

“She’s going to be the star of the show,” they added.

It is currently unknown when The Greatest Dancer will air as it is reportedly still in the trial stages of production.

This comes as bookmakers recently announced Cheryl’s return to The X Factor is “a done deal”

Coral suspended bets on the brunette beauty after a surge saw her priced at 1-4 to make a comeback.

It comes as The X Factor is set to undergo a wealth of changes when it returns.

Most dramatically, Mirror Online reported that it would be axing the Sunday night element of the live competition.

The X Factor will return later this year.
