When does Troy: Fall of a City start on the BBC and Netflix?

The Netflix and BBC series will be starting on BBC One this Saturday (February 7) at 9.10pm.

Episode one will be available after broadcast on BBC iPlayer and fans can watch it via a livestream on the platform as well.

A Netflix release date hasn’t yet been announced for the show but it will be released internationally on the streaming giant.

Troy: Fall of A City has unsurprisingly already been compared to Game of Thrones due to its fantasy elements, impressive ensemble cast and period look.

How many episodes are in Troy: Fall of a City?

Troy: Fall Of A City has been written by David Farr, who was also behind the 2016 television adaptation of The Night Manager with Tom Hiddleston.

There are a total of eight episodes in season one and each instalment is an hour long.

Episode one is called Black Blood and a summary for the instalment reads: “Following a fateful encounter with the gods, the life of young herdsman Paris changes forever. 

“At the Troy city games, he discovers something extraordinary, and on a trip to Sparta, he falls in love with unpredictable and far-reaching consequences.” 

Who stars in Troy: Fall of a City?

Troy: Fall Of A City features a stellar cast that sees Bella Dayne taking the lead as Helen, while Australian actor Louis Hunter plays her lover Paris.

Helen’s husband King Menelaus is portrayed by Robin Hood and Line of Duty star Jonas Armstrong.

The show also features Shameless’ David Threlfall as Priam, The Missing actress Frances O’Connor as Hecuba, Containment’s David Gyasi as Achilles, Game of Thrones star Joseph Mawle as Odysseus. 

Other cast members include This Is England star Johnny Harris as Agamemnon, Tom Weston-Jones as Hector, Chloe Pirrie as Andromache, Aimee Ffion Edwards from Peaky Blinders as Cassandra, Alex Lanipekun as Pandarus, Alfred Enoch as Aeneas, and David Avery as Xanthius.

What will happen in Troy: Fall of a City?

Troy: Fall Of A City is a re-telling of the classic Ancient Greek myth about married queen Helen of Sparta and her ill-fated love affair with Prince Paris of Troy.

Their elopement triggers the Trojan War as the kingdoms of Sparta and Troy battle for Helen.

The show features human characters as well as classic Greek gods such as Zeus, Athena and Hera.

Troy: Fall Of A City has been described as: “A story of a love that threatens to bring an empire to its knees. 

“Combining thrilling adventure with heartbreaking intimacy, it explores primal emotions, the psychological repercussions of human actions and life-changing decisions amid the devastation and destruction of war.”

Troy: Fall of a City will air on BBC One on Saturday at 9.10pm.
