The teen drama has only just returned from its midseason break but fans of Riverdale were furious when they found it had been bumped from television schedules until March 7.
As many settled down to watch the series, which airs on the CW in the US and is available to stream on Netflix, they found it wouldn’t be airing this week.
Fans took to Twitter to express their outrage that they had to wait even longer to catch up on their favourite show.
“SO disappointed #Riverdale wasn’t on last night. Ugh,” one viewer shared.
While another added: “Why the F**K is #Riverdale taking another 3 week break? I can’t cope with this.”
A third continued: “Been so excited to watch @CW_Riverdale this week but didn’t realise it’s on a break #cantwait #riverdale.”
“Was looking forward to watching #Riverdale but realised there isn’t a new episode tonight,” someone else tweeted.
A fifth commented: “Why the eff have I woken up this morning to find there is no new episode of #Riverdale until the 8th March? My worst nightmare has come true.”
Riverdale has taken a short break due to the Winter Olympics, which has taken over television schedules.
Other popular dramas in the US have also been affected including This Is Us and Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.
The teen series is set to return on March 7 with episode 14 entitled The Hill Have Eyes.
A teaser clip from the upcoming instalment shows Betty Cooper (played by Lili Reinhart), Jughead Jones (Cole Sprouse), Archie Andrews (KJ Apa) and Veronica Lodge (Camila Mendes) all heading out of town for the weekend.
Jughead seems to be far from happy with the vacation as he brands the situation “a powder keg”.
The promo also appears to show Veronica preparing to lock lips with the Serpent while Betty dons her dark wig once more to seduce her boyfriend.
Riverdale returns on March 7 in the US on The CW, and will release on Netflix on March 8.
