Coronation Street spoilers: David Platt exits after rape ordeal? | TV & Radio | Showbiz & TV

David (played by Jack P. Shepherd) will be subject to a Coronation Street first when Josh (Ryan Clayton) sexually assaults him after a heavy night of drinking.

The evil mechanic goes for a drink with his new friend and the pair bond over their parents’ broken relationships.

However, Josh date-rapes the widower and David is horrified and confused when he wakes up in his bed the next morning.

Naturally, the aftermath leaves him reeling but he may be about to make a very drastic decision.

David will desperately try to clean himself following the assault that leaves him feeling ashamed, all the while Shona Ramsey (Julia Goulding) berates him for staying out all night.

However, things soon get a lot worse for him.

Spoiler pictures released by ITV show David confronted with his worst nightmare when he finds Josh chatting with his mother Gail Rodwell (Helen Worth) at his home.

The troubled father can also been seen in the photos in conversation with Shona at a party for Harry, where he desperately tries to prove his manhood.

David will roughly kiss Shona but when she gives as good as she gets, he can’t cope and pushes her away, feigning cramp.

Things escalate once again when Josh turns up at the house with a present for Harry on his birthday, leading David to announce he is taking the kids to Liverpool to see his dad, Martin Platt (Sean Wilson).

However, it is clear David’s problems run deep after a bad night’s sleep sees him express interest in his dad’s plan to move to New Zealand.

Will David be leaving Weatherfield for good?

Hollyoaks was the first soap to explore male rape back in 2000 when Luke Morgan (Gary Lucy) was violated by Mark Gibbs (Colin Parry).

However, this is the first time the dark storyline will be explored in Coronation Street, which has been running since 1960.

To ensure the serious subject is depicted truthfully and sensitively, the soap is working closely with Survivors Manchester.

Coronation Street continues tomorrow at 7.30pm on ITV.
