The 63-year-old revealed to Bradley Walsh that he had previously been a contestant on BBC quiz show Mastermind.
Bradley, 57, stood with his mouth agape before he said: “Quiz pedigree, I see where you’re going with that.”
However, when the camera shot back to the Governess, she did not look happy at the revelation.
Those watching at home couldn’t help but comment on the moment and took to Twitter to express their opinion.
One speculated: “Anne Hegerty does not look happy that this guy has been on Mastermind to me. #TheChase.”
“Anne looks worried now! #thechase,” wrote another.
A third added: “Anne is fuming #TheChase.”
Richard proved to be a talented quizzer as he managed to take the £40,000 back to the team.
All of the players managed to make it back to the Final Chase to take on Anne.
In what was a very tense final, the contestants managed to take home the £55,000 prize pot to split between them.
Yesterday’s instalment of the quiz show was also home to a shock confession which saw Paul Sinha jibe at Bradley.
When a Coronation Street question came up, Bradley said he didn’t know the answer, despite appearing on the soap between 2004 and 2006.
The Sinnerman joked: “That has been your answer for every Coronation Street question!”
Bradley couldn’t hold back his laughter as he retorted: “Not a clue. I just used to turn up for work!”
The Chase airs weekdays at 5pm on ITV.
