When is The Walking Dead season 9 released?
Fans may not have to wait too long for The Walking Dead season nine to be released.
Show bosses confirmed that season nine was green-lit just after the season eight mid season finale back in December.
All previous seasons have been released in October so it’s likely that season nine will follow suit.
A brand new showrunner has been appointed to head up future seasons.
Angela Kang, who is currently a writer and producer on the series will be replacing current showrunner Scott M. Gimple who has been promoted to Chief Content Office at AMC.
Speaking about the changes, Gimple told IGN: “Angela is a big part of the heart and soul of The Walking Dead, and I’m thrilled to help facilitate her vision of the show’s next era.”
How many episodes will be in The Walking Dead season 9?
Every season of the post-apocalyptic action has series has contained 16 episodes.
The exceptions are the first two seasons which consisted of just six and 13 respectively.
The show’s popularity saw it reach 16 episodes in its third year in 2012, which has been the format ever since.
It is usually divided in two halves, with the first episode airing in October and the last in April with a mid-season break in between.
What will happen in The Walking Dead season 9?
Not a lot can be predicted about season nine just yet.
Episode 11 of season eight just aired this week.
Season eight has some dramatic character deaths so far, with more expected as the weeks continue.
The whole structure of the show could be completely different by the end of the season, paving the way for something totally unexpected in season nine.
So far, we know that Andrew Lincoln and Norman Reedus will be reprising their roles as Rick Grimes and Daryl Dixon.
This season sees the characters in the midst of All Out War, which goes on for quite some time in the comics.
It is expected that some sort of conclusion will be reached this season on this plot line.
Is there a trailer for The Walking Dead season 9?
There is no trailer for season nine yet as production hasn’t even begun on the upcoming series.
However, with an October 2019 releases potentially on the cards, fans could be expecting a trailer to drop in August or September this year.
