BBC News: AWKWARD moment car crashes in front of court hosting Ant McPartlin trial | TV & Radio | Showbiz & TV

BBC News was covering trial in Wimbledon when a black SUV appeared to crash into a white van at a crossroad in front of the Wimbledon Court.

Footage from the live feed also shows a blue Mazda moving away from the scene with a dented bonnet.

BBC reporter Alison Freeman said: “Excuse me, sorry. Just some cars having a bit of a crash behind us.

“Such is the media crowd there, it has been very busy here today.”

BBC News anchor Simon McCoy can be heard commenting on the crash from the studio, saying: “Oh, oh no. Oh dear.”

The cars can then be seen moving away from the crash scene as Ms Freeman resumed her report from Wimbledon.

TV star Ant McPartlin has been given a 20-month driving ban and has been fined £86,000 after he pleaded guilty to drink-driving today.

Standing in the dock, McPartlin spoke to confirm his name, date of birth, address and nationality before pleading guilty to a single charge of drink-driving.

The charge stated he had 75 microgrammes of alcohol in 100 millilitres of breath. The legal limit is 35 microgrammes per 100 millilitres of breath.

The TV personality was arrested at around 4 pm on March 18 after a failing a roadside breathalyser test following the car accident.

McPartlin is currently seeking treatment following a stint in rehab last year, after struggling with an addiction to painkillers which he developed after a knee operation back in 2015.

The popular host recently missed out on presenting the final two episodes of Saturday Night Takeaway with his TV sidekick, Declan Donnelly.
