Emmerdale fans have watched Ross Barton (played by Mike Parr) spiral out of control since his release from hospital.
The father-of-one suffered excruciating pain following a mistaken acid attack back in February which left Ross with a disfigured face.
Since returning to the village, Ross has largely depended on painkillers to relieve his suffering.
His extreme addiction to the tablets is set to worsen as newly released pictures show Ross breaking into the veterinary surgery this week.
But his plan is quickly foiled by Rhona Goskirk (Zoe Henry) who realises what Ross is up to and rushes out to stop him taking the drugs.
Rhona seems generally worried about Ross, but his reliance on painkillers appears more powerful than her comforting words.
As the trial begins, Ross is faced with his attacker Simon (Liam Ainsworth), who accidentally targeted him under the order of Debbie Dingle (Charley Webb).
With the assailant finally standing in front of him, will Ross recognise Simon as Holly’s drug dealer and make the connection?
Later on, the judge is told a key witness has died, leaving Ross fearing the whole case could be about to fall apart.
Fortunately, the witness’ statement is read out to the courtroom, but will it be enough evidence to convict Simon?
To make matters worse Ross’ mother Moira Barton (Natalie J. Robb) is told that Simon attacked him.
She is floored when she learns Debbie was the instigator, who hired Simon to take out Joseph Tate (Ned Porteous).
Will she take this evidence to court and finally have Debbie held accountable for her diabolical actions?
The acid attack storyline has been praised by Emmerdale viewers, with many impressed by Mike’s acting abilities.
